The perfect place to have an old-fashioned tea party
Yesterday, it was a cloudy, grey, overcast day and it poured with rain. It wasn’t a day to be out and about, but things still had to be done. My Mum’s hair appointment in Ulverstone was one of them, so I walked the streets, visited op shops and turned the clock back in time. It’s a lot easier than one would think…
Take a step back in time at Ulverstone’s delightful Victorian style tea destination called I’m In Heaven: Tea Room & Gift Shoppe on Reibey Street. In the middle of town, it’s the ideal place for a special vintage tea date.
As I walked through the front door, I couldn’t help but stop and look through the elegant tea gifts and fashion accessories. I don’t think many people would make it past the door without looking at the gift section, I noticed the customers who were about to leave the shop also made a deliberate effort to have a look too.
I overheard the man working in the shop telling someone that they were organising a large table for a group. Sitting opposite to the table they were organising; I couldn’t help but have a sticky beak. It looked absolutely stunning.
So anyway, let’s get into the tea. Well, I was utterly impressed by the tea selection and I had to read it more than once before choosing which one I wanted to try. Chocolate, mint and black tea are all things I enjoy separately but I haven’t had this tea combination before, so I chose the English Chocolate Mint Tea. Black tea, chocolate drops and spearmint – yum! Snuggled up in my chair, I took my first sip and the word “refreshing” instantly came to mind. A full decent sized teapot to myself, I managed to drink the four cups of tea.
When I went up to pay, I was quite surprised by the low price. The quality, atmosphere, decor and tea experience will keep tea lovers like myself, going back for more!
Which tea will I try next?
